Who is THE Sanity Nanny?

Hi! My name is Kimberly Tucker. I was dubbed the sanity nanny by one of my families a couple of years ago while working in Houston and the nick name has inspired me to launch this business.

I have been working with and caring for children since I was in middle school, over 20 years ago…I’ll let you do the math on that one to figure out my age.

From that young age, when I was still a child myself (though a preferred “adolescent”) I knew there was something special about caring for other people’s kiddos and that I wanted to do it forever. This passion led me to countless families, volunteer positions, and job opportunities where I could work with children of all ages. I even shaped my education around my love of children.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience I am now hoping to train and support others who share my passion for serving families and have a knack for loving on kids.

What can I learn from you?

Great question! I have had the opportunity to learn from some amazing professors, mentors, and experts in the field of child development. This is knowledge that I believe wholeheartedly should not be reserved for those who have the luxury of higher education. I want to pass along the information I have learned in school and through my 20+ years of experience to anyone with a sincere desire to work with children and their families.

Some examples of what I plan on teaching:

  • Developmental Stages/milestones and how to plan activities to promote growth during each stage

  • How to make childcare a viable/long term career

  • Nap time/Bed time struggles and how to combat them

  • Importance of communication with parents

  • How to promote yourself (you are an entrepreneur)

  • Tips and Tricks for Tricky kids

  • Nutrition for picky eaters

  • First Aid and CPR (Accredited by American Red Cross)

Credentials

Auburn University: Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies (Cum Laude); Minor in Psychology

Denver Seminary: Masters of Arts in Youth and Family Ministries (Scholastic Scholar)

Reviews

“What a parent needs is someone they can trust with her children enough that they can relax. Kim is not only technically competent (higher level education in early childcare) but she has a genuine love that really comes through and extremely trustworthy. She comes prepared with her own children books, homemade play-dough and little crafts that keep your children occupied without being in front of the television or computer the whole visit. We see Kim more as an in house teacher and extended part of the family. It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend Kim's services.” -Veronica E., Arden, NC

“Kim is amazing. She literally jumps right in as a part of your family even with the dogs! I feel at complete ease when leaving our 6 month old in her care while we have date nights. She's always easy to communicate with, punctual and great with babies! Couldn't recommend more!” - Ashley Y., Alexander, NC

“We have known Kim for many years and she frequently babysat my daughter when she lived in Houston. Not only was Kim punctual and pleasant, she was wonderful at engaging my daughter in play - unsurprisingly my daughter was thrilled when I would tell her Kim was coming.” - Lori S., Houston, TX

“I honestly cannot say enough great things about Kim. She nannied our two young girls for over a year, and she became like family to us. Kim goes out of her way to make everyday special for the kids she cares for. She was communicative, flexible, patient, and genuinely loved being with our girls. Her gentle and calm manner was exactly what we were looking for in a nanny. She often drove our girls around, and we always knew they were in very safe, capable hands.” - Karen C., Houston, TX

“We love Kim! She's so sweet and loving to our twins girls! I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for loving, dependable child care! She's wonderful!” -Lauren B., Atlanta, GA
